Resident Artists Program

Our resident artist program is designed to bring master violinists and cellists into to classrooms of the orchestral strings program. They provide additional in-class room instructional supports and make more personalized learning opportunities available to students. Resident artists are local members our Palm Beach County cultural artist community. Local artists interested in learning more can reach out to the Foundation at pbpsosf@gmail.com.

2025-26 Resident Artists

Elisabeta Hulea

I was introduced to the violin at the age of four in my hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia, and have since devoted much of my life to the study and performance of classical music. My early training took place with Hungarian pedagogue Erno Kabok, including formal studies through the Royal Conservatory of Music, where I advanced to the ARCT level in Performance. I further studied privately at Langley Community Music School with esteemed teachers Lucia Schipperus and Laura Hough, and was an active competitor in the annual Vancouver Kiwanis music festival while also leading school orchestras throughout my formative years.

After a pause from professional violin studies between 2016–2022 to pursue a pre-law degree, I returned to music with renewed passion and discipline. I have completed a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics and Economics while concurrently studying towards a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida where I also served as the concertmaster of the university’s symphony orchestra. I am currently a student of Nicholas Tavani and Gerardo Ribeiro. During this upcoming year, I will be pursuing a master’s degree in violin performance.

Throughout the years, I have held leadership positions in ensembles including the Langley Music School Symphony Orchestra and the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra. In 2024, I performed with the PRISMA Festival Orchestra under the direction of maestro Arthur Arnold. I have performed extensively in recital at the collegiate level as well as a soloist with orchestra. Most recently, I performed with the Palm Beach Symphony.

In addition to performing, I am committed to nurturing the next generation of violinists. I have been teaching violin since 2016. Most recently, I taught for three years in the Palm Beach Atlantic University Preparatory Department, where my students engaged in a comprehensive curriculum that included RCM practical exams, monthly studio classes, and bi-annual recitals. In my own private studio, my curriculum includes performance preparation for monthly recitals, as well as encompassing a methodical approach to technical and musical mastery. My students have achieved first class honors results in their RCM exams. My approach to teaching is rooted in discipline, encouragement, and a deep understanding of the technical and musical foundations needed for long-term success. I am a current member of the Music Teacher’s National Association as well as the Florida State Music Teacher’s Association.

Gabriella Mazzone

Gabriella Noël Mazzone is twenty-nine years old, and is a resident of Palm Beach, Florida.

She is originally from Miami Springs, Florida. She started her music education with the piano at the age of six. Her fascination with the violin after attending several concerts inspired her to study the instrument. Prior to her entering High School, her family moved to Palm Beach County so that she could audition for the prestigious Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts as a violinist for their strings program.

After her successful audition and acceptance, she was encouraged by Orchestra Director Wendell Simmons to pursue the study of the Viola in addition to the Violin citing the strength and intensity of her playing. During her sophomore year, “Bella” as she is known, began taking private Viola lessons and was added as a member of the String Orchestra, even as she remained a member of the Symphony Orchestra as a violinist.

During College Auditions she was awarded several scholarships for Viola, and she selected DePauw University due to its groundbreaking 21st Century Program and rigorous curriculum.

She was awarded a Bachelor of Musical Arts Degree during her time at DePauw; she continued to study Viola primarily and Violin as a secondary instrument.

While at DePauw she had many exciting opportunities that included masterclasses and joint performances with Hillary Hahn, Yo-Yo Ma, Time for Three and several other groups that brought interdisciplinary music from all over the world. She also traveled with the entire DePauw orchestra where she performed with and for other musicians in England and Japan.

She has been a part of several well-known music festivals such as Cannon Music Camp, Curtis Summerfest, Brevard Summerfest, and the Miami Music Festival. She has also collaborated with world-renowned conductors including Keith Lockhart and JoAnn Falletta.

Gabriella has worked as a mentor for the Nat-King Cole Summerfest in Boca Raton, and the Youth Orchestra of Palm Beach Summer Festival. She currently teaches violin, viola and piano at Vivace Music Academy in West Palm Beach and is an Artist in Resident at Palm Beach Public School and Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach.

She has been a student of Shao Chin Chien, Carole Simmons, Laura Sinclair, Nicole Brockman, Ralph Fielding, and her most recent professor is the renowned Sheila Browne.

As her musical career has continued to develop, she has been fortunate to play with professional orchestras on many stages around the world, including Carnegie Hall. She has also enjoyed a variety of collaborations with Kravis Pops Orchestra, Symphony of the Americas, and even The American Electric Light Orchestra.
